Chennai, Dec 2024 – Cambridge University Press and Assessment has introduced a new STEM foundation course aimed at strengthening the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills of students in classes IX and X. This initiative addresses the growing need for robust STEM education among young learners.
Addressing Learning Gaps
With increasing numbers of students aspiring to careers in science and technology, many struggle to find reliable resources outside the classroom. Experts from Cambridge University Press and Assessment highlighted that the abundance of online materials often leads to confusion and learning gaps. “There’s an overwhelming amount of online resources, and with school hours already stretched, I don’t have enough time to sift through them all,” shared Kanika Menon, a class X student from a Cambridge school in Sholinganallur.
Supporting Students and Parents
Kanika’s experience is common among students balancing schoolwork and self-study. Priya Sharma, a parent of a class IX student, expressed her concerns: “My child is determined to prepare for competitive exams, but managing online courses alongside regular schoolwork is a challenge.” Recognizing these challenges, Cambridge has developed a comprehensive solution.
Comprehensive Learning Tools
The Cambridge Connection Bridge Course covers essential subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, and biology (PCMB). The course includes over 15,000 competency-based questions, diagnostic quizzes, and 70 hours of engaging video lectures. These resources allow students to learn at their own pace, ensuring a strong foundation for both school and competitive exams.
Enhancing Teacher Support
In addition to supporting students, the course also aids teachers. “We will provide structured lesson plans, assessments, and a test bank of over 600 questions to create custom test papers,” explained Arun Rajamani, Managing Director of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, South Asia. Cambridge will also train educators in Chennai to seamlessly integrate the course into their existing curricula.
Future-Ready Education
By aligning with the latest educational needs, Cambridge aims to equip students with the skills required for future success in STEM fields. The introduction of AI and Simulation Labs further enhances the learning experience, making education more interactive and effective.
